In collaboration with the New Jersey 9/11 memorial designers Jessica Jamroz and Frederic Schwartz, a rise of earth was created sliced by the memorial walls oriented toward the Trade Center Tower site from Liberty State Park. Trees were used as framing elements underscored through an entry tree bosque juxtaposing the monumental memorial walls.

Sheltered within the Hoboken 9/11 Living Memorial tree grove, a previous Arnold Associates design, this quiet memorial provides a tangible remembrance of the 56 Hoboken citizen victims of the September 11 attacks. In collaboration with Demetri Sarantitis architect, this design aligns the Living Memorial trees and World Trade Center site with silently standing glass pillars as sentinels within layered with landscape.
Working with limited structural loads, an intensive 4-acre roof design was created over the Statehouse Parking Garage. Special design of soils for reduced weight were created and placed to permit sustained growth of shade tree groves in this downtown roof park space adjacent to the statehouse.
An international ideas competition for the revisioning the Mall around the Washington Monument, Arcs of Shade was one of six finalist designs to be recognized. The proposal pays homage to the formal L'Enfant and McMillan Plan visions while modernizing uses, reforesting around the monument providing shade with formal and informal spaces for various activities such as sitting, talking, jogging, eating, walking and laying about. Water steps extend the Lincoln Reflecting Pool up toward the monument encouraging aeration and cycling of the Reflecting Pool water.
Arnold Associates was one of four invited designers to improve visitor circulation and security protection of of the Washington Monument. Preserving the prairie lawn around the memorial, a low "Ha-Ha" wall was nestled around the monument within the landscape integrated with pedestrian walks. Collaborating with Tsao and McKnown Architects, a below ground visitor center reduced the visual impact but maintained connecting monument views through oculus skylights.
